Bet9ja Hacked — Popular Betting Platform (Bet9ja) Have Been Hacked

Betja Hacked, a popular betting platform in Nigeria and some African countries known as Bet9ja has been hacked by some Unknown hackers shutting out users and leaving customers apprehensive about their investments.

The hack was noticed since Wednesday morning as many customers have been complaining of their inability to access their accounts on the gaming website.

On a statement present on the website and on the betting platforms social handles, the company acknowledged the challenge while allaying customers’ fears and assuring the safety of their funds.

“Just like so many market-leading global organisations, Bet9ja recently became a victim of a sophisticated criminal cyber-attack, which is restricting your access to our platform,” the company said in the statement. “We take this matter extremely seriously. Our priority is protecting our customers and you have our assurances that your accounts and all your funds are safe.”

Bet9ja Hacked By Who?

Bet9ja company has confirmed that it is a Russian group that hack the website and has confirmed that the group are demanding a ransom for the return of the website. The company have said that they will not be complying with the demands of the group.

The statement released by the company reads, “The entire Bet9ja system has been under attack by the Russian Blackcat group who are famous for several attacks to huge companies in the world. It is a huge hacker attack by this Russian group but our people are working from yesterday without stopping for a minute to restore all the services but it is not easy.”

Ransom demanded by Bet9ja hackers

Mr Kunle Soname, the chairman of KC Gaming Networks Limited, owners of Bet9ja, confirmed that the company’s website was under a cyber-attack by a Russian hacking group.

The chairman confirmed that the hackers have demanded a staggering amount of money to be paid in bitcoin as ransom. The betting supremo, however, assured that the website would be back online on Friday, March 8.

The company Bet9ja has released a statement on the issue and has confirmed that they will not be complying with the ransom demands. In continuation of the statement, they said, “They are asking for ransom already but we will never accept their conditions. it is important to let you know this so that we are all on the same page. They have hit us hard but of course, they cannot kill us. We will stand our ground and come back even much more stronger. Please do not be discouraged, we will surely restore things as soon as possible and provide updates on the progress.”

The company itself didn’t make public the amount demanded by the hackers as ransom, however some Insiders on twitter commented that the ransom is not less that $240 million US dollars which are demanded in Bitcoin.

Is The User Data On Bet9ja Safe?

The company has confirmed that the user winnings and the user funds remain safe as they work to regain their website. According to the website, the group behind the hack is the Russian Cybercrime group BlackCat. The same group were behind the Germany hacks in January. The group is also known as ALPHV and they have been aggressively recruiting members to their group. They are targeting different companies worldwide.
